The World's largest and most powerful aircraft propeller, an 8 bladed giant, over 19ft diameter, dwarfs an employee of the Curtiss-Wright Corp. at Caldwell, NJ.
The newly designed propeller, nicknamed the "octoprop", because of its' streamlined resemblance to the tentacled sea-monster, will be used with gas turbine engines of 10,000-15,000 horsepower. The dual rotation propeller has been delivered to the Air Material Command at Wright Field, Dayton Ohio and is expected to be subjected to extensive tests at the U.S Air Force Development Center.
